Universal Extractor

Install Shield CAB Files

Does anyone know how to extract Install Shield CAB files (all types)? Universal extractor seems to be able to only extract IS6 CAB files and although ZipScan can extract most IS7+ CAB files, it requires that they have each have accompanying HDR files. The reason I need this is as follows: a while ago, Ubisoft released free, ad-supported versions of Far Cry, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and Rayman Raving Rabbids, and I downloaded all of them after Ubisoft stopped supporting any of them. When I try to install them, the installer gives me an "Internal Error". Unless anyone knows how to fix the "internal Error", then I figured I would try to extract the files and do a manual install. I've got the CAB files out of the EXE, and I've used ZipScan to extract the one with a partnered HDR file ( there are two CABs that the installer uses), but the other, having no HDR file and containing most of the game's content, is unnopenable with ZipScan.

worm infected download?

I tried downloading the program - uniextract - but at first I tried getting the installer and was just getting corrupted downloads, then I tried the binary and Adaware/Adwatch stopped it because of this -

win32.worm.viking

On viruslist.com they have a long page of info regarding that worm and includes all the other names it is known by.

What kind of bs is this? Your app was recommended by someone on another forum. I hope it is not for real, what do you think?

Universal Extractor is..

..awesome.
Seriously, I use this constantly, I keep it on my dock next to the other 5 programs I use all the time.

I mainly use it for extracting files from the various installer formats so I can put the files where I want, or just to see whats in them.
I'd love an explorer extension to replace my 7zip one, but I'm not complaining :)
If no one has put together a reg file to associate UE with all supported file types (as a secondary option for non-archives), someone should, maybe I should, who knows.

Anyway, just wanted to show my appreciation. It's beautiful.
That is all.

Just noticed something in the new version: you really should use the %TEMP% directory as the default path instead of C:\Windows\Temp

Uniextract.exe doesn't run

Hello,

Since around a week I´m not able to run uniextract.exe from explorer window. If I double click the exe file, nothing happens. I don´t remember installing or running anything odd that can be the reason.
I already tried to create a shortcut and to use the context menu "run as", no success.
If I call uniextract.exe from command prompt it runs ok. So I created a batch file as a workaround.
I also tried monitoring the system with regmon and filemon, but found nothing.
If I use the "run as" option in "System Info for Windows" (siw.exe), it runs.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot.

Autoit problems

When I try to extract files a popup window says "Autoit error
Line -1:
Error: Unable to execute the external program.
The system cannot find the file specified.
______
| Ok | "
It does it on two computers one with a older v1.6b & the other with the latest verson. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling but still the same problem.
One is 2K the other is XPpro.

help with OOOLLLD Installshield decompiler

I recieved an old (win 95 era) program I have wanted for a long time recently. it won't install, and acts like there was a problem when the person copied the disk for me.

So, I thought I would use the universal extractor to get the list of files that were supposed to be installed out of whichever IS file they are in.

UE says that none of the setup files are valid win32PE files.

So, I am betting the setup files are prolly 16 bit. How do I make them give it up????

thanks in advance,
