Universal Extractor 1.6?

I've gotten antsy while waiting for UE 1.6, so I've produced my own. (Sources and installer binary available upon request. I'd love to link here, but I don't have anything like reasonable file storage with bandwidth, and I don't want to get hit with bandwidth overage charges.)

Changelog:

1.6 (06/14/2007):

Recompiled UniExtract.au3 with AutoIt v3.2.4.9, packed with UPX 3.00 using --ultra-brute
Changed URL in UniExtract.au3 to point to MSXML6.0SP1 (MSXML4 is strongly deprecated)
Updated 7-Zip engine to 4.47 beta
Updated PeaZip engine to 1.8
Updated TrID defs to 06/07/2007
Updated RAR engine to 3.70
Updated UPX engine to 3.00
Updated InnoUNP engine to 0.19
Removed Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese translations due to lack of source

(I hope I'm not stealing the author's thunder.)

aloishammer, no worries about stealing my thunder. I know it's been a while since I've put out an update, and I know there are bugs in the current release. If you want to fix that on your own in the interim, more power to you. :-)

I do, however, ask that you rename it to something different. There will be an official Universal Extractor 1.6, and I don't want anyone to get confused about whether or not this is an official release. Eg., Universal Extractor - aloishammer edition, UniExtract v1.5-aloishammer (since it's based on 1.5 and not what will become 1.6), etc. Whatever you want to call it is fine with me, just as long as it's not identical to my standard naming format.

One other thing - you said that it's available upon request, but how exactly does one request this? I'm sure you don't want to tease visitors reading your post with a new version but no way to actually request it. ;-) If you have bandwidth concerns, you could perhaps look into a file host such as You Send It or Rapid Share.

Welcome to the site.

Hiya. Sorry for the delay in responding; it's been a long week. Good point about the renaming, but no worries; I haven't distributed it to anyone. I'll be happy to change the release name and plaster a few "UNOFFICIAL" warnings on it. About requesting it: I figured to pass it around via email or whichever. I haven't used Rapid Share because there seems to be a lot of dislike for it in some corners. Would you like me to put it up on You Send It so you can take a look?

That's entirely up to you. I only suggested those sites because they were the first two that came to mind. I'm not really a big fan of any of the file sharing sites that I've come across, but then again I can provide my own hosting. Just use whatever service you prefer.

You may want to post a note about this on the MSFN forum as well. A lot more people read that than my forum, so they can probably provide some better feedback than you'll get here.

Also, no need to worry about my stamp of approval first. It's unofficial, remember? ;-) If anyone wants get get your version, and it's identified as such, that's fine by me.

I know this isn't a very helpful answer, but, "when it's ready." :-) I'm working on this in my spare time, and for the last few months there just hasn't been a whole lot of that. When I get the time to finish things up and put out the final version, I'll do so. I just don't know when that will be; could be in the next few days, could be in another month or so.

It will happen, though, just give it some time.

This is only from the unofficial version that aloishammer compiled. I'm not sure why he removed it from his, but it'll definitely be included in the official version. Also, I know you've been asking about the Chinese update. Sorry I've never really gotten back to you. One or two people have mentioned that the current Chinese translation is not very well done. I can't speak or read Chinese, so I'm simply not able to judge myself. If you find this to be the case as well, can you explain why? I'm not opposed to swapping out the current version for an improved one; I just want to understand the problem(s).

Is it possible to release some kind of beta-version that contains the updated libraries?
