I am considering upgrading to a 64-bit computer. However, 64-bit computers cannot run 16-bit applications, only 32 or 64 bit ones. I have noticed that Universal Extractor is based on several console applications (such as innounp). Are any of these applications 16-bit, meaning they cannot be run on 64 bit computers?
Re: Compatibility with 64-Bit?
Most of the "helper" binaries are 32-bit, so you should be fine. Unfortunately, I think a couple of the really old binaries are 16-bit, so you'll just be out of luck for those particular types of files. Off the top of my head, I think booz.exe and i3comp.exe fall into this category, but I'm not certain.
Good question. Hope this helps a bit. If you do decide to try this out, please post back your results. I can add a note to the main page about potential problems for 64-bit users.

Re: Compatibility with 64-Bit?
Unfortunately as I do not have a 64-bit system yet I cannot currently perform these tests. Possibly there could be a version of Universal Extractor that simply wouldn't extract certain types of files, rather than returning an error saying the helper binary could not be run. This would be great for x64 users. Also, the AutoIt executable itself could be compiled for a 64-bit platform using Aut2Exe.
If I do get a 64-bit system, though, I can definitely try these programs out.
Re: Compatibility with 64-Bit?
It runs on 64 bit Vista and Windows 7. innounp is a console application but not 16 bit. I could not test all unpackers, but "the big ones" (inno, nsis, msi, ...) are unpacked without problems under 64 bit.
Re: Compatibility with 64-Bit?
That's Great! However, someone should really test the other binaries - such as BOOZ, i3comp, helpdeco, etc. I want to make sure my 64-bit Windows 7 computer won't encounter serious errors if Universal Extractor tries to run a 16-bit program. Thank you for testing the major ones!
