Problem installing v1.5

Hi, thanks for your great Universal Extractor.

I'm having an issue when running the 1.5 installer on my fully patched german XP SP2 system. I'm logged in as Administrator and receive this error when I try to install the application:

Basically it errors on RegCreateKeyEx because I do not have sufficient permission ?!

Please help.

Well that's odd. I hate to say it, but I don't know why you're getting that error. Installation under Windows Vista has registry issues similar to what you reported, as does installation under XP/2000 with a limited user account, but I don't recall anyone ever reporting this issue when running with administrator privileges on Windows XP.

What happens if you just click Ignore? Does it only prompt you for that one registry key, or do you get multiple prompts? If it only prompts you the one time, I'd recommend just completing installation and forgetting about it. It's possible that permissions on that key could have been changed for some reason, and the only consequence would be that UniExtract will not appear in the context menu of .jar files. If you get it multiple times, however, then there's likely a larger problem.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. I'm definitely Administrator on this machine and I strangely have no other issues either. I do run NOD32, Ad-Aware and Spybot (but not TeaTimer) for protection but I doubt that they block access to this key ?!

If I ignore the error then it just keeps popping up again. If I abort, then copied files get deleted again. Is this error related to registering file extensions ?

EDIT:
I just noticed that the error is related to JAR files - I also have Sony Ericsson Data Transfer Software on my machine. Maybe that interferes with UniExtract ? It would rather surprise me, however :/
